What recording formats for a GoPro or Canon 70D?

I am looking for a little help. Being fairly new to video hunts I’m looking for some video editing software. Do you have any suggestions for GoPro products and their file formats as well as for a Canon dslr 70d. Any suggestions would be helpful.

 

Our Editor, Blake, suggests the folllowing:

For a Gopro: Hero4 Silver’s a good Go-Pro. It cost less than the Black version.  Use the record mode of   1920 x 1080 at 30 fps.

For the 70D:  Adjust your settings to use a record mode of 1920×1080 at 30 fps.

Editing software:  We use Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro.  I’m sorry, but I do not have experience with other editing software.  I can only suggest that you find something that works well with a variety of formats.
