Johnny,

God speaks to us through His word – the Bible, through other people (BIble study classes, etc.) and through His creation (being outdoors, etc.) if we are seeking Him.  Having a Bible on the shelf, but not reading it isn’t an invite for God to communicate with us. Ignoring the beauty and power of God when looking at HIs creation isn’t inviting Him to communicate with us.  

Basically if we truly seek God he will always be there for us. I hope you will intentionally spend some time each day being quiet and seeking God. I get up early almost every morning and Read God’s word (the Bible) and spend some quiet time reflecting on what I read.
