Is there good deer hunting in Bath County, Kentucky?
Marty,
I’m confident there’s some “good” deer hunting in Bath County, Kentucky. An easy way to learn about the quality of future hunting sites is checking out the county soil survey. This may seem boring but there’s a wealth of information!
Check out this useful information:
In 2005, about 29,000 acres in Bath County was used for crops (24). Of this acreage, about 2,800 acres was used for alfalfa, 21,000 acres for other hay crops, 920 acres for tobacco, 2,600 acres for soybeans, and 1,500 acres for corn. Wheat is the most common close-grown crop.
Quickly we learn there are not many soybeans there. If bucks with big antlers are your objective you may need to create lots of quality food plots. I believe you’ll find the top rated counties for large-antlered bucks in Kentucky are on the western side where soybean production is highest.
